In the late 1880’s, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla both invented different ways to get energy, and started what is now known as The War of The Currents. Edison made direct current, which continually runs in a straight line. But the problem with DC was that it couldn’t be easily converted to higher and lower voltages. Tesla believed that the solution was alternating current (AC), which reverses the direction a certain amount of times a second. It can also be converted to higher and lower voltages relatively easy through a transformer. Edison got all of his money from DC patents, so he started to campaign against AC power, and he even went as far as publically electrocuting animals with AC to show that AC power was dangerous. Although Edison was protesting that DC was better, the AC system was adopted in the early 1890’s for a major power project in Niagara Falls. During Tesla’s lifetime, his dream was to find a way to give the world power without cables everywhere. He did accomplish this task and ended up creating one of his most famous inventions known as The Tesla Coil. The Tesla coil was very famous, because it was a machine that could wirelessly transmit electricity. …show more content…

So that meant that anyone could steal (or plagiarise) ideas and say Oh! I made this! Tesla’s first invention was a telephone repeater. Sounds similar to Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone. Tesla even created a lightbulb when he invented the Neon Lamp. Tesla said himself, “I don’t care that they stole my ideas. I care that they don’t have any ideas of their own.” In 1884, Tesla went to the U.S, and was briefly associated with Edison, but they had a salary misunderstanding, and he left. After a difficult period, Tesla established his own laboratory in New York,
