Noah was truly a man after God's heart. Since Noah was described as the "preacher of righteousness" and his motivation came from faith and godly love, Noah lived a life full of worship and affection for God. His name actually means "comfort" and "rest". Most Christians would absolutely love to be described like Noah. He is mainly known for building the ark when God flooded the world, but he is so much more than that.
Grandson of Methuselah, son of Lamech, Noah lived a very long life full of love and worship. Scholars believe Noah lived around the Mesopotamia region of ancient Egypt, near the Nile River (What We Know of Noah and the Ark in the Bible). Noah lived to be 969 years, and 350 years after the Great Flood. Noah was of the tenth generation descendant of Adam, the first human to live on Earth. Noah was a farmer, and he had three sons. Their names were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. God made a covenant with Noah before the flood, keeping his family safe from harm. This verse means that while everyone fell into the trap of sin, Noah stayed strong in his faith and saw God as a graceful God. Noah realized that others were not being good stewards of the Lord, so he made sure that he did everything that was acceptable to God. That does not mean Noah did not make mistakes, he actually got drunk right after the flood.
