Thank you for being so helpful when I was inquiring about the program at Kaiser Permanente- Fresno Medical Center. I am writing this letter to express my interest in your pharmacy residency program. I was fortunate enough to complete two clinical rotations at your facility and speak with the residents and Dr. Tim Sayles at CSHP this October to learn more about your program. Your program offers extensive ambulatory care exposure, one on one preceptor-student interactions, and dedication to developing well-rounded pharmacists, which all fall in line with what I would like to see in a residency program. I was fortunate enough to utilize and improve my communication skills through Operation Diabetes at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Through this student-run organization, we provided diabetes screening and education to multiple patient populations through health fairs and lectures. In congruence with Kaiser’s mission statement, one of my goals is to provide excellent and affordable care for our community. Through my experiences, I have acquired the skills to recognize and tackle health disparities, and work towards minimizing them. Being based in the Central Valley and working with an institution such as Kaiser, would allow ample opportunity to implement and practice cultural sensitivity in healthcare practice.
