Having a classroom management plan in place is conducive to creating a learning environment, where everyone feels comfortable and safe when they walk in and out of the classroom. As an educator my goal is to set the tone of my classroom the very first day of the school year. In this way, the students’ understanding of my rules, expectations, and procedures will be understood. Students should also be prepared to read on a regular basis (4-5 hours per week). Weekly writing assignments will be based upon the assigned readings. Assignments: All assignments and exams will be due on their assigned dates. In most cases late work will not be accepted unless it’s an excused absence. Sloppy, cluttered, or inappropriately formatted assignments will not be accepted. Writing assignments done in pencil will not be accepted. Type assignments are preferred. Students are expected to take the responsibility of speaking with me regarding any assignments they might miss due to planned absences. Method of Evaluation: All work will be graded on a point system, and these points will be allocated to differently weighted performance criteria (80% homework, texts, quizzes, projects and 20% Final Exam - this is set according to school policy). All chapter and unit exams will be worth between 50-100 points. Homework assignments will range from 10-50 points depending on the scale of assignment. All multiple-choice tests will be graded objectively; all essays and writing assignments will be graded subjectively with a scoring
