CM met with Joyce and her son Maurice to talk about boundaries and goals for duration of his stay on respite. CM educated Maurice on importance of maintaining his ADL while on the Respite unit. CM then coached Maurice and mother through discussing behavioral goal Maurice will strive to obtain while on the unit. In regards to basic hygiene Maurice agreed to shower once a day, brush teeth twice a day, comb hair three times a day, change clothes including underwear and socks daily. When prompted Joyce and Maurice also agreed to making all his responses verbal, using a two or three word introduction when greeting people which will occur twice a day, take all medication, respond verbally when interacting with someone, and only stay return to his

In order to contribute a positive relationship it is essential to demonstrate and model an effective communication skill when dealing with children which means that considering both how the practitioner approach other people and responding the children. It is effectively more likely to communicate information to one another if having a positive relationship. Effective communication plays an important role in developing positive relation with children, young people and adults. It is also essential that the practitioner is interested in development of the children by using effective communication skills, building a positive relationship, approaching and responding in appositive manner, making feel comfortable or supporting which it’s required.

In continuation distinguishing the child’s issue with his choice of grammar is crucial. Is he more positive or negative? Does he have aspirations that his circumstances will improve? Perhaps he just does not know how to go about it. Im here to nib him in the appropriate direction.
In every school there are set policies and procedures so that all people working within the school are aware and stick to the same rules. Consistency is imperative. All adults working in the school would be : teaching staff, support staff, lunchtime supervisors, kitchen staff, governors, after school staff and temporary staff. There are many policies in schools that children and staff should be aware of.

Lord Laming produced a report called Every Child Matters which should ensure that each child should have their basic needs met i.e. food, water, warmth, be loved, feel safe respected and able to reach their full potential. The report has 5 outcomes: • being healthy: enjoying good physical and mental health and living a healthy lifestyle • staying safe: being protected from harm and neglect • enjoying and achieving: getting the most out of life and developing the skills for adulthood • making a positive contribution: being involved with the community and society and not engaging in anti-social or offending behaviour • Economic well-being: not being prevented by economic disadvantage from achieving their full potential in life. The needs and views of the child must not go un-noticed by putting the needs of the adult first. The wishes and feelings of the child should be a priority.
Some people might argue that a child’s upbringing forms the child’s foundation of life. It forms the child’s identity and its view of life. The upbringing of children is a wide concept because it is never the same. The question is if there is an edge between upbringing and torture. The intention of upbringing is indisputable – you want your children to have a great life and a great future, but perchance certain ways of educating children can cause more damage than good.
Carolyn Kizner’s pantoum “Parent Pantoum” (1996) laminates that the speaker is conflicted about her daughter’s adolescent behavior and attitude. It is through child development theorists and their theories that we begin to form an understanding of how children develop emotionally and socially to become fully grown adults in society with a moral and emotional compass/. Teachers need to study child development in order to provide developmentally appropriate educational experiences for children. Health professionals also need to understand this area to support children in their physical, social, emotional and cognitive journey to becoming functioning adults in society. Childhood is a concept that is affected by social context and also by history. Here in the West childhood was not always considered to be a fundamental developmental phase in life with children in Victorian times working from as early as the age of four.
Listening to children The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child shows a child’s right to his or her own views in all matters and the right to the freedom of expression. This includes the right to receive and be part of information about themselves. All people around children need to make sure that rights are upheld and matters affecting children are looked after. Children can experience worries at home, at school or with their peers and children need to talk about their issues. Parents, professionals and practitioners need to pay attention not only to what children say, but also what they are saying.
