Freire’s “The Banking Concept of Education” (1968) and Rich’s “Claiming and Education” (1977) both persuade their audience to informed them about their education system and to changed their way of learning. Furthermore, “The Banking Concept of Education” (1968) was an essay written by Paulo Freire in the 1960’s. For instance, Freire used “Banking of Concept” to criticized the current education system and discussed that he agreed with his own ideas on how he believed that this should work. According to the author, “The Banking Concept of Education” was composed by a listening object that was the student, and a narrative object that was the teacher, therefore, the student listened and memorized the information what teacher taught. However, “Claiming an Education” (1977) was an essay written by Adrianne Rich at the Douglas College. For example, Rich (1977) stated “the experience is what enrich the people and the world around and that it depends on each person what to think” (pp. 609). She referred to ethos noted that the claims had credibility because the author do not show been bias in any moment, all the statements were reliable. Furthermore, in Freire’s essay, the author explained to their audience and reflected the problem that the educational system confronted that was oppression. In addition, Rich used pathos in her work. For example, the author (1977) stated “all the social issues that many people have to go through since they are being discriminated” (pp. 609). Compared to Freire’s essay, he do not use pathos in his essay. Additionally, both essays contrasted in the way they both had critical situations in society.
