Most people make the assumption that a community is made up of people who live near them when really it could be made up of people from all over the world. The word “community” can mean many things to different people and everyone has their own opinion on what it means to them. To me community means a group of people who all share the same interest, likes, and who are willing to come together and help one another in times of need. That is why I strongly believe that even if you are on the opposite sides of the world from one another you could still come together and be apart of a strong healthy community. To create your own community with others even if it is through the internet is very simple and you really just have to be willing to accept
Each community observes occasions which have special meaning for it. In the Shia Ismaili tradition, these occasions are closely connected with the principle of Imamat. One of these occasions is Takht Nishini, the ceremony held by Ismaili Jamats to mark the ascension of a new Imam to the throne of Imamat.
A community that I have belonged to since I was two years old is the hockey community. This community has had a tremendous influence on my character and has helped shaped me into who I am today. This community has taught me to be accountable for my actions and that hard work is the foundation for success. It has also taught me discipline and to have respect not only for my teammates, but also for others on and off the ice. I was taught to give back to others who are in need and especially to children, who ultimately see you as a role model.
My own phenomenological community includes my parish church and the community 's Little League baseball association. My family and I have been members of this wonderful parish where we volunteer, learn and celebrate
When I was fourteen-years-old, I saw the Afghan Girl photograph on the cover of the National Geographic. Her eyes are the color of the sea, and the expression on her face is haunting. At the time, I living on Maui, and had been since infancy. Evidently, I did not remember a life before Maui, and it was hard to image a life away from the island. To me, the Afghan Girl photograph represents the life I had on Maui.
I have spent 17 years of my age in Iran. I faced with constant religious persecution, unrelenting human right violations such as systematic access denial for higher education, and my home was confiscated. I always have been wondering how a system or a human being can be such self-centered and closed minded without any integrity? Then I remind myself that we all always need to examine our characteristic because it needs “improvement and discipline”, and “Freedom of will and undeviating steadiness of purpose” as mentioned in The Meditations (Aurelius, 1994). I believe that we should live our life in a way that our hero is our self in 10 years.
We are often told that it’s ok to be different. My younger version would definitely agree. Growing up Indian, I had the benefit of teachers repeating instructions a bit louder and slower. I never worried about getting injured on the baseball field, because I got to sit on the bench. My parents never had to worry about driving me to sleepovers, though I was seemingly friends with everyone in school.
The injustice that occurred to the farmers awoke very different feelings in me, ranging from anger to pride. Anger from seeing just another way that people are oppressed, thrown to the side and invalidated in the eyes of white supremacy. Yet I was proud of my Latino community because in the face of this abuse they fought for their rights as people and did not let the oppressor just do what they always do with no resistance. This situation with the garden and the farmers is a very specific example of the way a group of people of color trying to advance and better themselves and their community, but is again being stopped and cannot grow and develop in this country, which has happened to numerous communities and population the moment these land
I am an Armenian-American, and for the majority of my life I identified more with the American side. But for the past few years, a principle aspect of my life has become finding a way to incorporate my Armenian culture into my American life. Without any guidelines, it has been a challenge to do this; one that has prompted me to create an Armenian Club at my high school. Creating and orchestrating the Armenian Club has undoubtedly been my proudest achievement and has helped me develop as a person.
Even though I have never been on an airplane, I consider myself an international traveler. I live in the U.S. but I also have Lebanese immigrant parents. When I was younger, I used travel back and forth across international borders to fulfill my daily routine in one city. But; I was never Arab enough to fit in with “Arab” natives, and being Arab means that I would never be considered “American” enough.
Rafiqa Hassan arrived in Australia, 2006. In an attempt to escape the horror attaches in Afghanistan. The constant bombing, no education, and unequal right comparing women to men were falling. It was time to leave, for good. They decided to flea their home country couldn’t return due to fear of persecution when they cross borders and seek safety in another country.
For occasions in the text it says “they usually wear traditional costume clothes”. The holidays that they celebrate is Ramadan which begins a month of fasting at the end of the fasting period, Eid al-Fitr. They fast from sunrise to sundown. Eid al Fitr is also called small byram when families and friends come together sing and dance, play, play traditional music and feast on food prepared according to old family traditions, and we also go to our families home, stay for a little then get money and candy. Weddings, birthdays are causes for people to sing, dance, and eat traditional
As a Muslim convert, who has a tragic story of hardship after coming to Islam. This is a very brief idea of my situation and what had happened to me. I have suffered and faced a lot of abuse and insults from my family and community after I became a Muslim. My family is very racist and my sister was involved with white supremacist groups. My story is a long story-
It’s not easy to find perfect destinations for the summer, that are not too far away or too crowded, but last year I decided to try a new travel experience in Romania, to discover its coast. During my travel experience, I discovered the Black Sea and its beaches, searching the off the beaten path ones in order to enjoy my journey without having to deal with the crowds of people. I also explored the Danube Delta, a fascinating place that simply charmed me. litorale romania
Standard of acceptable behaviour: We have to respect our elders no matter what. Ways of celebrating important events: Muslims have two major holiday celebrations a year called Eid, as well as the month of Ramadan, that come at different times of the year based on the lunar calendar. Our holidays are filled with spending time with loved ones, charity, worship and other festive activities by giving gifts, bringing treats to work, and inviting others to have a dinner meal during Ramadan.
