for the goal Me Share my wife’s story of her reaching her goal My wife started going to college in 2004. At first, she did not know what she wanted to go to school for, so she was just taking her core classes. In December of 2005 a tragedy stuck. My wife’s daughter was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of just two years old. My wife had to drop out of school to take care of her daughter. In August of 2006 my wife went back to school to get a nursing degree. But in 2007, she changed her degree to early childhood. My wife is not good with math so she did not want to take all the math’s you have to take to get a nursing degree. My wife was supposed to graduate in May of 2008. Instead she had to wait until December of 2008 to get her degree. For my wife to reach her goal of earning a degree she had to take summer classes and Saturday classes. Maybe it’s a sin for which you can’t forgive yourself. Maybe you need to forget what seems to be a character flaw or weakness. Maybe your family history makes you feel trapped. Whatever it is, do like Paul and say I am forgetting all that is behind me. If you are looking in the rear-view mirror you will miss your turn. Don’t focus on your problems. Focus on your God. He’s got you. Sprinters have a fundamental rule: Always keep your head forward looking only at the finish line from start to finish. Never look around, especially at any of their competitors. Why? Because the minute you take your eyes off of the goal, you immediately slow down. You may not intend to do it, but your body will automatically slow down to decrease chance of injury. Paul said no matter what was going on in his life, Jesus is the prize, so he’d focus completely on reaching his goal. You must always keep your eyes on the goal. The runner in the race of life must keep their eyes focused on Jesus or you will stumble and
