As soon as a walk out of Mrs. Bates apartment I instantly think to myself “what just happened”. How could someone be so kind, sympathetic and forgiving to a thief like me? She does not know that I steal in the hope of being able to provide for me and my 3 younger siblings. Why I said I wanted money for shoes, I do not know. But still she decides to give me a second chance. She could have easily called the police, she did not. As I walk the dark streets back to the shelter where my siblings are waiting for me I stumble upon a purse lying on the ground across the street. I run over to pick it up. Still, I do not seem to feel this joy, I do not even eat my sandwich. It’s almost nighttime now and we are all in bed, the guilt comes over me again and I can’t sleep. This goes on for the next week. Insomnia is suddenly a problem for me and I have not been able to smile since I took that damn money. I still have all the money left as I only used the money from Mrs. Bates. What should I do with it? Should I use it and make life easier for me and my siblings, or should I take it to the police and hope they will find the owner? I finally decide on the second option. I run to the police station and tell them about the purse and that I took the money. The officer stares at me with a blank face. What is he thinking? Is he going to arrest me? Am I going to jail? After few seconds, he picks up the phone and called someone. He tells me to take a seat in the waiting area. The suspense is killing me. Few minutes later, which felt like hours, a woman comes up to me. She tells me the they had found the owner of the purse and thanked me for giving back the money. She tells me the money was meant for the shelter me and my siblings are living
