In A Defense of Abortion Thompson presents an argument against the morality of abortion by showing the superiority of women’s rights through several different analogous cases. The case of focus will be case eight, “ A Selfless Brother’s Box of Chocolates.” In scenario one, Thompson argues that an older brother has a box of chocolates while his younger brother has nothing; the question of appeal is does the younger brother automatically have a right to these chocolates? The box of chocolates represents a woman’s body while the younger brother represents the fetus. Although it would be nice for the older brother (mother) to share his box of chocolates (mothers body) he is not obligated to share them with anyone even if he is perceived as a selfish, greedy, or a stingy person.
As an Early Educator, I see children as flower buds, that need my undivided attention and love. They need a safe and rich environment so they can blossom into strong and confident flowers. Like flowers, there is diversity among them, and it is my duty to accommodate and meet the needs of each flower, in order to help them grow. I see children as curious and active learners, and my job as an educator is to provide a safe and rich environment, where children can explore freely. I strongly believe in forming secure attachments with each child, to provide that comfort they need to explore the world around them.
Being involved in the learning process of others is vitally important to me. I believe that as an educator, we have the capability and responsibility to help mold not only students educational goals, but to help mold them into successful adults that sill contribute to society. Many times during my life I have been a teacher, a counselor, a cheerleader and a role model for my students. Every student is at a different point in their learning process and cycle, and a good educator can find that point and capitalize on what the student needs next.

I want students to be able to learn and appreciate the complexity which is our nervous system. I want to foster a passion for all things neuroscience. I want students to conduct research in neuroscience so they can focus on one area and have top universities see their research. Research that they were able to accomplish at a high school without high tech labs or vast resources. I want students to get to places that I could never imagine.
My personal philosophy about children and learning is that children learn best when modeling. Modeling is a great strategy to demonstrate to children how to behave effectively in any situation. It gives them a good perspective to consider about the situation when they are in that situation. For example, when a teacher demonstrates how to solve a math problem, she is modeling to the students how to solve the problem correctly. I believe children learn best by hands-on learning environment.
The education system in the United States, from what I perceived, focuses on teaching skills that are essential to life, allows students to operate successfully in society, and to explore and find individual self and culture. Since I am focusing my college education in becoming a high school history teacher, I believe that the subject that I will teach, which history is, is an important and integrative part in the student’s everyday life and is an important part of fulfilling educational standards in the United States. I have a voracious mind; I’m capable of devouring countless facts and swaths of knowledge, but none of that knowledge is for me. I have always been an insatiable learner because I want to be able to pass it all on. I come a divided district where students either soar, or sink like a stone.
Oh…. I REALLY wanted to be teacher… I wanted to be an educator, until I was about ten years old; that’s really all I could ever talk about. As a youth coming of of Flatbush Brooklyn, I realize that sometimes a mentor is all a child needs. At this stage of my life, part of me felt that my family and my teachers were the only people that truly cared about my well being.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
Hey there! I thought you should know I am so excited to be in this class and to begin to live the dream I have had since I was in Kindergarten. Even since I was little I have wanted to be a teacher and slowly, but surely, my dream is becoming a reality. I absolutely love children and seeing them learn makes my heart full. I have always said that I want to shape the minds of children, and I can say that I have started to impact the lives of children around me.
Teachers are one of the largest forces a child will encounter in their life to help them in their journey of self. As a teacher it is important to understand this and be able to create a learning environment for the needs of all. I accept that my philosophy is mine and keep my mind open to the knowledge of others in my career as an educator. I consider myself to be eclectic in my methods of education. As a lifelong learner I am reliant on my teachers to help me develop new theories and methods to help the individual student succeed in their educational career.
Many students can’t learn if there is no solid relationship built with each student personally and with the class as a whole. That is why it is important to build meaningful relationships with our students because no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship. My beliefs can have a huge influence on my students and through learned behaviour individuals can acquire these behaviours on how to act toward certain people, social situations and environments. Thus, as role models, we must demonstrate to our students how to act in a well behaved manner because they look up to us and they unconsciously mimic us.
