Personal presentation style
In our discussions Glenn Wiese impressed as positive, robust, practical and down to earth. He seems to have a quite traditional but effective leadership style. In his discussions, he emphasised the importance of grassroots activity to get both engagement at shop for level, and then empowerment, in order to make effective Safety oriented change happen and last.
The impression that Mr Wiese created was of a personal and operating style which was highly consistent with FMP’s Management template.
Career Overview
Mr Wiese did not initially pursue academic studies: he left secondary school in year 11 to pursue an apprenticeship, which he did not finish, and then worked for four years approximately, before joining Alcoa …show more content…

Whilst the work expanded his skills, the management environment was very unstable - which made “embedding” change difficult. Concluding this was never going to change, he left. BAE and joined Nexans in a Tottenham based position which had responsibility for all Safety in Australian operations, and also had a functional safety remit in Nexans expanding manufacturing operations in China. He Nexans story is an interesting one, in that Mr Wiese probably joined the organisation at its peak in Australia: soon after his commencement, poor financial performance, meant that Nexans started a process of “deconstructing” the Australian operations. By his account he is currently well regarded at CCL, and has enjoyed his work there. At the same time, a recent CCL international restructure has reduced scope of his responsibilities. As a result his current role is not as challenging as it used to be and there is no scope for this to change in the future. For these reasons, Mr Wiese is interested to look at other career opportunities which offer challenge and career scope.

At present, Mr Wiese commutes (drives) from his home in Geelong to Craigieburn each day – about an hour and a quarter commute. Thus there is that no downside for him in a Ballarat role.
Remuneration
Mr Wiese states is currently on a package comprising a base of about $142,000 pa plus Super, plus a bonus scheme which provides to about $15,000 pa. at best.
