“The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do,” stated by the late Steve Jobs, founder of Apple computers. Typically, most people are afraid of change, but I welcome it because it has the ability to enhance everyday life. To me the thought of change is exciting and I feel the possibilities in computer technology are endless. Thinking about my current and future aspirations and my passion for computers drives me to educate others. In the past two years, I have been able to accomplish some amazing things within the industry which makes me realize I have a chance to make a difference in the world.

Emerging technologies are fields of technology that broach new territory in some significant way, with new technological developments. Examples of current Emerging Technologies include autonomous cars, parallel computing/supercomputing, computer/informational security, artificial intelligence, block chain technology, robotics, virtual reality, and much more.
The purpose of E.T is to help people exchange ideas and resources more freely through the advocation of emerging technology, emerging technology research, and the development of new technology. This includes, increasing understanding and awareness about emerging technology throughout the student body, fostering project growth through exchanging ideas and resources, integrating with the Mid-Michigan community, meeting up with other college organizations around Michigan, performing philanthropic functions, joining coding competitions (known as hackathons) and creating valuable networking …show more content…

I have an amazing team to put it all together and an advisor, Professor George Corser that has a unique ingenious mind set to steer our organization on the right path. Just a couple months ago, I attended an event at the University of Michigan called MHacks 6. MHacks is a 36-hour code-a-thon that 1500 students from all around the world go to and compete. There are over 10 different competitions you can participate in and the competition my team participated in was, "Best Use of Expedia's API." For this, we created FlightBook; FlightBook is a web application that takes the top 100 vacation spots in North America and compares them to the cheapest Expedia packages. For example, let’s say I live in Detroit and you live in Seattle and we are best friends that want to go on vacation, but we don’t know where to go and we want to go somewhere cheap! Overall, FlightBook finds you the cheapest and best vacation spot in North America for you and your friend(s) (We have it programmed up to 9 friends and yourself). This was a pretty slick idea, Expedia loved it, and we were pleased to win their competition! After the MHacks event, I realized SVSU students are missing out on competitions and how other colleges have such talented students that come to events like this.
