I always wanted to be in a health care setting, where I get to help people and try to improve people’s life for the best; I thought that this ambition would pull me towards a Medicine degree. Surprisingly enough though, I found myself in a much esteemed pharmacy college where I am learning and continue to learn many great things that pharmacists contribute to the health care system. Pharmacists are constantly being underestimated by the society and thought to be the second choice to follow. I always thought that the pharmacist’s only role is dispensing medicine, which in my perspective did not help much in the patient-care aspect of health. Although dispensing medicine is a great part of a pharmacist’s everyday profession his contribution to the health sector far outweighs just the act of dispensing. …show more content…

The way I understand pharmaceutical care, it is the extensive care provided to the patient by the pharmacist to achieve optimal health – whether mental, social, physical, or mental. It is also going over and beyond to provide ideal drug use to patients’ satisfaction. Investing in the patient’s life provide for a better health care system and goes way deeper than the ancient role of pharmacists as dispensers of pills, it provides a more integral aspect of pharmacies in all health systems around the world.
