Art had always been a big part of my life. At age 12, I remember watching a music video of my favourite band and how tears just started to stream down my face. I was so touched at how such a beautiful story was told in such a simple way. Since then, I promised myself that I would someday make something that beautiful. I would make a mark on the world, as I inspire others to make their own. Art allows me make my impression on the world. I have always shared my passion in art with others. My sister and I used to go to different museums and artistic events. She showed me many art pieces that inspired her, such as paintings by Gustav Klimt, which in turn inspired me. Drawing amplifies the beauty in something that is often seen so ordinary. I find something as simple as a person sitting down beautiful. I became known as the Art kid in my class and was always asked to draw something in group projects. Continuing my interest in art, I admired how art is able to tell stories. I’m inspired by the stories of others. As I grew older, I began to realize my own story. I had began to learn about my depression, my sexuality, my beliefs and my morals. Art was my way of expressing and accepting my story. Three years ago, I was at the lowest point in my life. I had no motivation to continue. I was doing good in school, but still felt uninspired. I felt as if I had no talents and could not be successful in the world. I felt so alone, so useless. I knew something was missing. During my Junior year in a new school, I took Studio Art as one of my electives. This class helped me further my skills. It helped me to realize the inspiration I was looking for. My parents noticed how happy and excited I was about my works. Near the end of Junior year, I had found myself. I had figured out that I wanted to pursue art as my career. There are still times where I doubt my own ability, but I pick myself back up and motivate myself to work as hard as I can to make my dreams come
