Every day I wonder about the person I will be. All my life I have wanted to find a purpose. To be able contribute my life to something meaningful. The only issue was finding a field of study that was of interest. Many people feel that becoming a doctor is the only way to help people. This is not why I have decided to pursue medicine. As a freshman, I realized science way the only field I felt both of interest to me, as well as challenged me. I needed a career that made me whole. Biology, specifically, became my main focus in pursuing a life that constantly challenged me not only academically but as a person. To be able to understand biological mechanism that occur in the human body, and use that knowledge to solve problems is fascinating to me. As a student I have had to face mental challenges, as well as financial difficulty. As a freshman I had to learn the value of a dollar. Living in a household of six becomes a strain when you are responsible for college tuition yearly. Dealing with financial issues while maintain a good GPA became a burden. I believed obtaining a scholarship would make everything better. Not realizing that in gaining a scholarship I would lose myself confidence. While fighting to continue my education at Penn State University I began to have doubt. Doubt in my abilities as a student and to reach my goals.
