I developed my interest in the French subject when I started taking the French Extended program. In this program, I became more integrated into the French culture and began to improve my French skills. While taking this program, my classmates began asking me for help in understanding certain concepts such as le passé composé, and through helping them, I discovered that I love to teach people and that I should strongly consider teaching as a career. Helping them understand their own problems gave me a sense of satisfaction and pride. I want to be important in helping younger generations become better people. I started to look into opportunities where I could take on a teaching role. This includes tutoring, leadership programs, and most of all, my peer helping and adaptive leadership courses. However, my placements in the Grade 9 French Extended class proved otherwise. I found out that students learn differently from each other and thus, I needed to incorporate various teaching methods in each lesson. Later on, I learned new ways to teach students with different multiple intelligences. This entailed learning how to communicate with students and ensuring that they understood the lessons.
Eventually, I asked the teacher if I could help with additional tasks. I began to help create and mark evaluations for my Grade 9 Extended French class, and this was when I realized that teachers have an immense workload.
