As a member of my student SCSHP chapter, I have involved myself heavily in the promotion of the practice of pharmacy. Ever since my first year of pharmacy school I have been an active member of my student chapter and have strived to learn as much as possible. It has been an honor to have been nominated by my peers to receive a scholarship award from this outstanding organization. My student chapter has provided numerous opportunities for me to grow as a leader and future pharmacist. Promoting the importance of antibiotic awareness to the members of my community was my first opportunity as a first year student to become involved. In order to display the importance of this initiative, we created a video to compete in the PPMI/PAI video competition. As a result, our chapter was awarded as 1st runner up in the 2015 competition. In order to continue this legacy and further promote the importance of the PPMI/PAI initiative, I decided to become more involved. As a third year student I decided to act as our chapter’s PAI/Public Relations chair. In this position I was given the opportunity to take charge of the PAI video competition for 2016. With the help of my committee, we were able to creatively implement the importance of PAI in an improved video. As a result, we were awarded as the grand winners of the PAI video competition for 2016. Our chapter received special recognition at the 2016 ASHP Midyear Student Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was a huge honor for our school and local chapter.
