I have a strong desire to teach; the first time I considered being a teacher was when I was in third grade and I thought “I can explain that better.” My desire to teach was also reinforced through high school when I became a teacher’s aid, but then due to a transfer in college I was shuffled from being an Art Education major into a Fine Arts major. Now that I’ve been out of school for a year, I miss every moment of it, and I’ve realized that I was never ready to leave the learning environment. I want to take my passion for learning to the next level and motivate the future generations to enjoy learning too. Given enough time and guidance, I strongly believe that every student can learn. While not everyone learns at the same pace or through the same means, with enough effort anything is possible. There is always a strong sense of community in art school where we learn to rejoice in diversity and use our different backgrounds and ways of thinking to collaborate, inspire and push each other to try something new. Likewise, there is amazing potential in professional collaboration in learning communities, because through communication with other educators you can find new innovative ideas to engage students with lessons. Daily practice and reflections were necessary throughout art school, we were constantly encouraged to examine the whole picture and evaluate ourselves through our artwork.
