I am a rose of the YWCPA, pushing the boundaries of math, science and technology. I enjoy working with things relating to STEM because it brings my hands on experiences on trial. I get to think on new ideas to perform a task and also ways to improvise any problems made. On

my 6th grade year I got the opportunity to work on a water bottle rocket, which really helped me see how STEM works and all the procedures needed to be successful. At the end, I almost got the opportunity to compete, but sadly I wasn’t able to. But even though I didn’t get to compete I got the opportunity to participate in this project and I enjoyed it alot. I enjoyed working with my sister and building the water bottle rocket. The most important thing to do whenever collaborating …show more content…

By my engineering teacher I learned that whenever working on as a team, ideas have to flow out and they can't be judged. Even if they sound irrelevant to the topic ideas are meant to share and brainstorm ways to use them. This is the major factor that allows me to be more intrigued in STEM. When I'm older and have a career I hope I get to participate in something I enjoy doing. STEM is a field that has been getting my attention ever 6th grade. At the beginning I thought that STEM only focused on engineering but now I understand that it's more than that. There are so many career options that someone can choose from and they can enjoy working with something they enjoy doing. During my middle school year in 7th grade I was confused in what I wanted to major in for college, but then my teacher began explaining her college experience and how she managed to master, all of a sudden I'm not worried because right now I have some few ideas in what I want to major in such as becoming a biomedical engineer, or also majoring in law even though it's not STEM related. Currently I am taking geometry class and the classwork is very easy. I enjoy being in the classroom and learning new formulas and finding new possible ways to solve a problem. In my eighth grade year, I struggled a lot with my algebra class. I did anything just to make sure I understood the subject because the STAAR test was my top priority. The entire school year was a struggle because later on our algebra teacher left and we stayed about more than one month without a teacher which made things more difficult for us and also for the new teacher. I remember staying for lunch tutorial, watching Khan Academy and also playing an educational game which made this subject more fun and intriguing. The game provided you with medals only if you mastered the subject and this made me more competitive and I wanted to make sure I got the most medals because it was a competition between all the students in the classroom. At the end, I vividly remember the day I took the Algebra STAAR test, the night before I was going through all my notes from the entire school year and surprisingly I didn’t ended up being nervous. Luckily, once the results came back I ended up passing, which was the light of my day and ever since that day I now say that anything is possible. Now in geometry class I try my best and I make sure I understand the lesson being taught because at the end I am the one ending up failing my class. Ever since algebra class it has changed
