10. Describe the skills and experience you would bring to the Youth Council? (please speak to any relevant experience within or outside of Guiding)

For all my life, I have been involved in many different activities, both inside and out of school. For the majority of my life, I have been involved in Debate, Model UN, and Saskatchewan Model UN. Through years of experience, I have been able to strengthen my public speaking, and it has been something I love to do. I enjoy communicating and working together with others. Due to my experience so far in the IB diploma, I know how to manage my time wisely, while still maintaining a strong work ethic. I am a devoted person, meaning I do not give up when I have issues solving problems, as shown through my years of piano. The IB programme is a program that prides itself on creativity, and with it, I have been able to develop creative thinking skills. I am able to view things in a different way and find creative solutions to issues, that might not have been thought of previously. I have had the chance to travel to Germany with the Saskatoon Children's Choir, which not only let me make new friends within my choir, but I also had the chance to make other, new friends, from outside of Canada, that I still maintain contact with regularly. I view myself as a very friendly and outgoing person, and I believe one of my strongest skills is my ability to build and maintain friendships with others. Girl Guides has been a huge part of my life. I have just entered my 12th year of Girl Guides, and I still love it. I have served on the boards of multiple Model United Nations organizations, one being the Saskatchewan-wide organization. I have been involved in my school’s student representative council, representing my grade. In my history of serving on a council or a board, I know it is important to not only discuss issues with other board members, but also, to reach out to other people, in order to hear a different perspective and, to also make more informed decisions. I speak with the people I represent regularly in both my student representative council and my two Model UN organizations, as I serve as their voice. I believe it is crucial to discuss issues with individuals who are not on the board, as in order for an organization to run smoothly, you must develop a relationship of trust and belonging, as well as establishing communications between each other. Through my experiences, both in, and outside of Guiding, I believe I can represent a group not always represented, and bring a fresh and different perspective to the Youth Council, offering solutions and views not always represented or thought of. I have been in Girl Guides since I was five; I have a knowledgeable understanding of what we do, and issues facing girls within our organization I think that my skills learned through Girl Guides would be reflected in my participation on the
