I am an applicant for the M.Ed. in Curriculum and I nstruction Dual Concentration program. I chose to apply for this particular program because
I am inspiring to become an EC- 6 teacher. I have been training with an alternative certification pro gram called Texas Teachers, that has been providing me with training techniques and material I will need t o know as a teacher. However, I believe this progr am with Concordia would give me the skills and resourc es I need to become the best possible teacher I can be. This program will give me the skills I need to take my teaching skills to the next level. I would not only grow as a teacher, but as a person too being a part of this program.
The only challenge I will need to overcome masterin g this program would be to have faith that I will perform to the best of my ability. Between my work schedule and personal life, time seems to har dly ever be on my side. I know however, that my educat ion comes first. This is a goal I want to achieve for myself, so I know that I will have to prioritize my time accordingly. Another challenge I will need t o overcome is not letting my personal life affect my schooling. Sometimes, life events will happen that will cause me to shutdown mentally and emotionally. Tha t just goes back to me saying having faith that I w ill do my best no matter what may come my way. I know that I cannot let things defeat me. Becoming a teacher is something I have wanted to do my whole l ife. I know that while researching Concordia, it was the better option for me. With the different programs and the type of programs they offer, it made me fee l as though I would be getting the best education, resou rces, tools, and skills I need to be successful. I feel that as though the help I would get from Concordia would take me so far in my career. It will also le t me take the things I learn far in life.
During undergrad at the University of Houston – Dow ntown, my first two in half years were rough.
I was that student that was so sheltered in high sc hool, that when I got the first ounce of freedom on a huge campus, I had to take full advantage of it.
