In the novel "In the time of the butterflies" the Mirabel sisters are sisters who live in the Dominican Republic under the dictator Rafel Trujillo. Everyone pretends to agree with his decisions and go along with the flow except the Mirabel sisters. They are strong courageous butterflies who sometimes face cowardice.
A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
What do you currently teach and where? I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades.
As a future teacher looking toward a time when I will be responsible for a classroom of my own, the prospects are terrifying. Students arrive in the classroom with various strengths and weaknesses with the expectation that I can and will teach them the given curriculum. Admittedly, some students will be easier to connect with and teach than others. This is not the fault of the students, but rather the fault of the teacher. However, this is not to say that the teacher should be held entirely responsible for the challenges that he/she may face and fail; but the teacher can surely be held responsible for coming to an expected challenge and failing due to lack of preparation or effort.
I've learned the importance of discipline the students and how these things can teach them how to act. It's shown me how teachers don't only just teach academics but they also teach life lessons as well. Becoming a teacher who is able to successfully educate my students while, at the same time, teaching them to be good people at the same time is my ultimate goal. I hope to be a good example to my students and hope that setting a good example will teach be able to teach them to respect others and have good manners. I hope to look at what I've learned in this class, especially from Paley's book "You Can't Say, You Can't Play", she sets a good example of how important it is to teach her students about things other than academics.
I believe that each and every child is unique in their own way. Who needs a secure and caring environment in which they can grow and mature emotionally, cognitively, physically, and socially. That’s why for me it’s important to help the students meet their full potential in this areas by providing an environment that is safe and also a place where they are able to share their ideas with each other and to let them explore their curiosity because after all that’s how they learn. As a teacher I feel that we should motivate our students to become the best that they can be by incorporating in our curriculum the many theories that we have learn in this class so that we can help them achieve their full potential. Since not all students learn the same
Spending late nights grading, dealing with parents, a teacher’s salary isn’t sufficient for the broad job descriptions they are responsible to meet. Although it takes someone with a loving heart to be a teacher, they are suppose to teach what will become of the future. Therefore wouldn’t they have the most important job? In addition to be a successful teacher, first teachers have to go school themselves. Moreover after comparing South Texas College, Texas State University and University of Rio Grande Valley based on my criteria of tuition cost, location, and strength of program, University of Rio Grande Valley would be my best choice in helping me pursue a career in interdisciplinary studies.
I am currently an Elementary Education major. I have always had a keen interest in teaching young children, but primarily in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Through recent stream of consciousness, I’ve decided that I am better suited for educating the age group birth to five uncertified, when the times comes I will become certified for the same age and kindergarten through third. My experiences in working with children prior to this are indicative of being qualified for this change in my major.
With that being said, my third grade teacher made me want to become an educator and ever since then my desire to be a teacher has expanded. I hope that I can achieve my goal of making a difference
I am a transfer to Central College, and I am currently in my third year of college. I was born in California, and as a child, I moved around often and experienced various of cultures, sizes, and environments in the classroom setting. Ever since I was a child I enjoyed being outside and doing activities such as hiking and fishing. I have a passion for working with kids. Currently I work twice a week with a student with a language disorder, and I teach this student how to read and write.
As I mentioned previously, I was the first family member to attend college, and while my family was there to support me they really didn’t understand the college process. Mrs. Gaines is a prime example of how a teacher can make a difference in a student’s life, without her help I may not have attended a four year university, and instead I probably would have opted to go a different route. What she did had a lasting impact on my life and I would like to do the same for my students. Whether that means helping a student through the college process, or assisting them with a dilemma they are facing outside of school. I want to pay it forward by using the teaching skills Mrs. Gaines taught me as well as the experiences we had and bring them into my classroom.
Since I am currently enrolled at Indiana Wesleyan University as a second year student, I know I have more room to grow in my teaching career. The further I dive into the education program the more equip I become into being the best teacher possible for my future students (5.0). So far I have learned about who I want to be in my career, who I am as a Christian, and what it takes to be an effective teacher. My passion for teaching others has grown tremendously since beginning my journey into college.
I love to teach little kids and experience what kids in these grades are like and what they like to do. I remember when I was in these grades and I loved my teacher. They seemed like they knew what they were doing and like their job. This is a part of my inspiration of becoming a teacher. The main part is because of my mother.
As a girl, I would play school with my group of friends and I would always take the role of a teacher. And through my educational career, I continued to take roles revolving assisting students as a mentor, tutor, and teaching assistant. Through these roles and as a student, I had the privilege to be around teaching professionals that inspired and motivated students to pursue higher education to make a contribution to our society in a positive way. To me, those teachers are my superheroes and the reason to why I want to become a teacher, I first-hand experience the impact they have made through teaching.
I went into training and I want to continue being a teacher because I love to make a positive difference. Training is a really fulfilling challenge, and as I love learning new things myself, I really enjoy that I get to share my interests. I have had a fantastic experience when it comes to education. I am really grateful to the teachers and trainers who I have had in the past as I feel that they have ignited my passion for learning and development. I was taught from a very young age that everyone should be given the opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed.
