"The Grunts," is a Nonfiction article by David Wood. Woods discusses the idea of moral injury that war caused to soldiers. Tim O'Brien demonstrates in his book “The Things They Carried” that he was familiar with these things long before Wood wrote "The Grunts.” they both depict or throw the light on the life of soldiers who had no choice, but to be in war, how they try to cope with their traumatic past, carry the emotionally & physical burden. Woods' article “The Grunts” depicts the idea that soldiers had no choice, but to participate in war.
A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
The purpose for students to go through so many stages to reach their goal of becoming a teacher is to make them more informed and experienced about their career. The professional dispositions allow the students to know how to behave professionally, be ethically professional towards their students as well as colleagues, personally develop their skills as a preservice candidate, and successfully go through the all the stages to become a teacher. In my experiences from K-12, I have never considered a teacher to be unprofessional to my peers or myself. A teacher who comes to school dressed accordingly for work is considered professional.
What better way to combine my love for young children and the desire to help others grow in knowledge than to become an elementary teacher? My favorite classroom to work in is kindergarten. Being with children, taking care of children, and loving on children has always been something I treasure, and I have been blessed with the gift of working well with children. For me, my decision was not “I'm going to become a teacher, but what do I want to teach?” I concurrently decided to teach and to teach kindergarten because of my love for children and how much I truly enjoy teaching.
The purpose of academia is to provide a firm foundation for children in the areas of scholastics, self-awareness and community. As the educator, I will facilitate and provide opportunities for students to establish this foundation by instructing a student- centered curriculum as well as allowing the students to learn from other stimuli. I will strive to ensure that each student leaves my classroom with improvement in the three areas of schooling. I believe that teachers should have a passion toward their students' welfare including the students’ scholastic standings.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I knew it would be challenging, but rewarding with many benefits to come. But no one ever told me it can result in me getting sued. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I was on my way to finishing up my teaching certification. The following school year I was set to start student teaching, but everything changed when the Superintendent of my old Middle School offered me position teaching math.
In the workforce, there are a lot of different aspects to take account for, there are the financial, management, planning, skills, work habits, labor issues, technology, and health/safety. Each job; no matter where you go will have these exact angles of the job. Being a teacher is a perfect example that symbolizes these traits of a job. A teacher is not just guiding students at the right path to success; it’s about the planning, working together with the other teacher in your grade, or subject. It’s about managing and keeping the students safe at all times.
When being a teacher you’re going to run into problems and situations that might be difficult. Some traits of a fantastic teacher is patient, friendly, engaged, and funny. Being patient is a key part in teaching. No student is the same, some might take a little bit longer to grasp something compared to the other students who are speedy quick to grasp the lesson. Also when having a teaching job you’re going to run into a lot of unplanned chaos, so you will need to be patient and calm so you can avoid any mental illnesses.
I went into training and I want to continue being a teacher because I love to make a positive difference. Training is a really fulfilling challenge, and as I love learning new things myself, I really enjoy that I get to share my interests. I have had a fantastic experience when it comes to education. I am really grateful to the teachers and trainers who I have had in the past as I feel that they have ignited my passion for learning and development. I was taught from a very young age that everyone should be given the opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed.
As a teacher, I hope to instill a love of learning in every student I teach. Learning begins before a child enters a classroom and continues throughout their entire lives. I believe it is important to foster learning so children will actively seek knowledge to continuously grow and improve themselves. However, this is not achieved so easily. I have many goals I hope to achieve to facilitate the accomplishment of instilling a love of learning in students.
There are many people in this world that inspire me to be what I want to be when I get older. For Example, Doctor, firefighter, police, dentist, and scientist are all successful things that will get you somewhere in life. But, Being a teacher is a career that allows you to inspire little kids and get them started on what they want to be when they grow up. The best school I thought of to go for teaching is university of Cincinnati.
I decided to pursue a career as a teacher because I can’t remember a time where I wanted to do any other job more. It is easy to become discouraged about going into education because teachers don’t make the most money and they aren’t always valued as much they should be. People constantly remind me of the “downfalls” of being a teacher but it has never scared me away. I figure that those people don’t have what it takes to be an educator. I think that all students deserve to have a teacher that chooses to be there everyday because they genuinely care about seeing them succeed.
Coming out of college, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do for a job. My father was a teacher at a middle school and recommended that I'd do some substitute teaching to get some income during the time that I would search for a job. Over time, substituting at the school my father worked at, I enjoyed the experience of doing different classrooms and interacting with the kids and other teachers. I came to discover, unlike other jobs, teaching allowed the day to be lively and exciting but at the same time very productive, with a lot of purpose, avoiding the monotonous routine. It was also a pleasure to see students understand new concepts and change over a period of time.
As a teacher, I believe, teaching is simply a tool we use in order to help our students begin to discover, create, explore, and understand the world around them. I know that this is a process with the end goal being that my students will eventually be independent and ready to self-educate. The art of teaching begins with us striving to give students the basic skills and knowledge they need to survive from day to day. My hope is that the students, with time, will begin to expand on each skill, independently, and later use those skills to gain more enriching experiences and eventually cultivate their own knowledge. My ultimate goal with teaching is to open my student’s minds and welcome them to question everything.
This Semester has gone by very fast and there has been a lot of interesting topics that were discussed that were important for a future teacher to know and have more knowledge of what is to come in the future with how life as a teacher works. Many of these topics were very eye opening to me because you get more in depth with what is happening today and how the schools and teachers work together in order to bring a well balanced education to students. From technology in classrooms to diversity being embraced in schools, it just makes me see that a teacher has a lot on her plate and that they are just as hardworking as another other person in their career.
