A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
Education is one of the most crucial aspects of our society, as it helps to form the future generation. I don’t remember exactly when my interest in teaching really started but I do remember always having the desire to become a teacher and really make a difference in someone’s life. It was honestly my positive experience of education that had a lasting impact on my life and encouraged my energy and passion for teaching. Following this, I further developed my interest in this subject through my academic and extra-curricular activities.
I chose to pursue the teaching field because of my experience training new nurses and C.N.A.’s at the nursing home I previously worked at. There were students that would come to observe and learn the procedures and skills needed to work in a nursing home. My bosses knew to send them to me because they saw the passion I had for teaching skills in the nursing field. So when I knew that I was going to have those students, I became overjoyed because I knew that as they learned, I was actually making a difference in their careers in the medical field. The passion for teaching began early for me in life.
My personal reason for wanting to become a teacher is to shape and mold the lives of students and be a strong and positive impact on the next generation of Ennis Texas. Kindness is a characteristic that is very important to me and I hope that I am now teaching and can teach this to all of my students for years to come! Because of these struggles I have become passionate about my adult education and about wanting to help young students gain their footing in an education system that can, at times, not find them until it is too late. The experiences I had as a young student have fueled my desire to be a teacher. I believe in being an advocate for students and what they need. I also believe that a love for education can be sparked at this young age, as early as four and five years, and that early intervention can help students who may be experiencing a learning problem or developmental delay.

Every effort I put into my education is done with a great purpose. I strive to earn excellent grades either by staying up late to study, managing to pull through heavy assignments, or spending hours studying for a class. My hard work and dedication pays off in how excellent my grades are. My parents have encouraged me to pursue a career not for financial benefits but for the impact I can make with it. I strongly believe teachers make a strong influence on students.
There are a few main reasons why I want to teach elementary school. One, teaching has a family-friendly schedule, which is my top priority as a mom of three kids. Two, I have found how valuable my own kids’ education has been and want to make an impact on other kids in my community. As an adult learner I know how important it is to continue to learn, grow in knowledge and be able to pass that on to others.
Why do people want to become teachers? There is low pay, long hours, little benefits, students have more rights than teachers. I want to be a teacher because I want to make a difference and change every child’s heart that I come into contact with. Teaching is one of those jobs where you get to be an undercover angel, because you are able to effect so many different lives by caring and teaching. You matter not only to one person in an office, but for 18-20 kids.
I get asked the question why would I possibly want to be a teacher? They get payed so little and do so much. That’s the difference I will be making at Idaho State and in my everyday career. I am passionate about what I will do. I will show others that even if the career they want to enter is one that won’t make them the most money they should still do it.
What motivates me to pursue a degree in education is the personal satisfaction, the chance to make a difference in a child’s life, and having the opportunity to teach young children. Five years ago, if you would’ve asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would’ve told you that I want to be a pediatric nurse. When I was in preschool, I always played doctor with my teacher, I loved it! So, when middle school and high school rolled around, and my family and friends asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said I want to be a nurse. My senior year of high school I really thought about what I wanted to do after I graduate.
Growing up in a house with a mom who is an educator showed me the importance of education and spreading the love I have for teaching others and helping them grow as a learner. I grew up surrounded by classrooms from a young age. I would hang out in my mom’s room in the morning and after school while she worked. I loved going to school and never wanted to miss a day for any reason. I loved school because of the teachers and staff I had and I would love to be the reason kids love coming to school as well.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
I want to enter into the field of education because I want to see children succeed. I love to let children know that they can accomplish anything that they put their minds to. I want to enter the field of education because I genuinely have a passion to teach and better every child that I can. I aspire to be a teacher because I want to become a great teacher that kids can look up to. I hope to someday be a teacher that when a child grows up they still remember fondly.
