Medicine is a fascinating area of study that has interested me for many years. It is the only course of study that combines the appliance of science at the most technical level, with the field of humanities. I have found medicine to be exciting, diverse and ever changing. I would love to study medicine because it provides a wide range of work opportunities ranging from medical research to family medicine to surgery. It also puts me in a position to help people. I immigrated from Nigeria. During my stay in the United States, I have observed a decline in the health and wellness of many immigrants families. The pressure to live a better life at all cost has caused a reduction in their health awareness practices. As a Future Medical Doctor I look forward to working with other health professionals to improve the level of good health awareness practices and to provide quality healthcare to the immigrant population in Texas. As a young boy growing up in the most populous city in Africa, Lagos, I spent a considerable amount of time at the hospital because I was constantly getting sick from malaria.
