“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” The meaning about this quote from Malcolm X to myself, it shows the institution I attend gives me a passport to my career by helping me define my career goals by attending college to further my education to achieve life goals. Malcolm X has influence my life in so many ways. He was one of the greatest influence leaders of all time. Malcolm X, used knowledge to outsmart others around the nation throughout history. Educating his self, by reading and learning about different things. Being an African American male, he knew receiving education can be a very powerful trait to have.
At a young age, my mother and grandmother always stressed education. They instilled in me that education is the key to become a strong candidate for anything I am up for and with it I will be able to achieve it. The truth of their words stuck with me throughout my years of schooling. While growing up, I knew with receiving knowledge can place me in a position where I am prepared for the future. Where kids from around the area, participated in attending the summer camp. Being a summer counselor, I had duties such as organize and lead variety of small group activities each week, identify and respond to camper behavior issues, ensure the site was organized, and clean, communicate with parents about experiences and report of the concerns of the kids, and assist in maintaining the program records. Assisting kids that are going through a growth where they are becoming older and knowing a lot of information that is happening around their homes, community, school and the world.
