I have always had a great fascination in the design and aesthetic quality of different objects, looking at how every day products help change and revolutionise the way we live and interact. Creativity and innovation are key factors that are evident in the design industry today, transcending the boundaries between science, technology and design. I am confident that studying Product Design will give me an opportunity to combine my enthusiasm for art and design for industrial use.
I am an enthusiastic artist as I regularly express my interest in design, often working in the Art and Product Design department to further develop and refine my work. I have greatly enjoyed my art units, which have helped develop my sketching and technical drawing, moulding me into a very methodical and meticulous artist. Through my study of art, my large amount of observational drawing has aided my visual problem solving skills allowing me to have a clearer understanding of functionality. I focus heavily on precision drawing in my work, due to my fond admiration of intricate

I also like how product design allows me to combine artistic techniques with complex visual drawings to identify problems and enhance aesthetics. I have applied these skills to my design work by thinking outside of the box, with practicality and originality in mind. The course has also given me a greater insight into the knowledge and theory behind design on a very practical scale, applying skill through my work with a range of different materials and manufacturing processes. I have also developed a high level of skill with CAD modelling software, allowing me to digitally create 3D designs. Both Art and Product Design have helped me develop ideas to a high standard and communicate them visually. Due to the heavy workload of both courses, working on my coursework independently has taught me to manage my time
