Easy as One, Two, Three
Every student: whether in public, private, cyber, or home school has to learn mathematics. It is the one subject that students either get right away or have trouble understanding. There is no in between when it comes to math. I was the one that loved math since it was the only subject I could understand fully. EdReady made me realize there was a lot that I forgot about when it came to math, however it does not stop my enjoyment of mathematics, which is what made me want to go into a career where I would use it every day. Learning math for me is exciting, there is always something new to discover. I believe I feel that way because it is the subject that comes easiest for me to learn and does not leave me bored. Math is going to be used in my career daily, whether it is for balancing checkbooks, creating budgets, doing taxes, or believe it or not catching criminals. “Accounting plays a major role in law enforcement. The FBI counts on more than 1,400 accountants among its special agents. Chicago crime boss Al Capone was finally brought down in 1931 by FBI accountants. Although believed responsible for crimes ranging from bootlegging to murder, Capone was ultimately arrested and convicted for income tax evasion” (Ury, 2012). I already use it every day by working at a hospital. I have to identify insurances for billing to make sure everyone receives the correct billing statement. I also do a census every night to make sure everybody is accounted for. So math is already a major part of my day. EdReady made me realize how much I hate fractions, which is exactly what it is supposed to do, “it helps high-school students better understand their current strengths and weakness in math and obtain a personalized path to fill in knowledge gaps” (About This Site). It was very helpful, after a few tries I was able to pick back up on how to solve fractions. The site was fairly easy to navigate too. It was a little confusing at first, but eventually I figured it out. I am very glad that I tried EdReady, it helped me
