Interest in Business, Football, and After School Activities
I am a high school student with who is primarily interested in pursuing business, football, and other after school activities such as book club. Fundamentally, I believe that all students should pursue business to develop a general understanding of how the economy works. According to research studies conducted by Manning, Kinzie & Schuh, (2015), business studies are not only valuable for students in business class, but for the success of the whole country. In this account, business education has enabled me develop essential business skills such as entrepreneurship, which has improved my self-reliance skills. Moreover, I would like to start a major corporation in the future and help reduce employment in the country. Statistical data provided by Christensen, Bartman & Bever (2016) indicate that 70% of high school students wish to start their own businesses in the future. I am confident that my high school experience has helped me develop the right attitude towards sports and course work as I can balance class activities and sports. Moreover, research studies indicate that active participation in sports and other co-curricular activities is essential in developing key personal values such as teamwork, which is essential in the work environment. Studies conducted by Smith and Willingham suggest that only few students make it to the National Football League and athletes should develop alternative plans for their sports careers (Tamny, 2015).
