Personal Statement: My Short Term Goals

My first goal is to get a high quality mentor and have monthly meetings which we will discuss goals, upcoming decisions/events concerning the program. Being a new and young coach there will be many situations I am unaware that will happen and best ways to handle certain situations. Having someone to talk about risky ideas, present points that challenge me, and give unbiased feedback will be crucial in my growth as leader. Having a mentor will boost my confidence and stretch myself to reach goals. My second goal is to create a shared vision for the football program by asking for suggestions from coaches, players, parents, and fans. Creating a shared vision will empower decision making and goal setting. This will create a unified group that is investment to make the program better. My third goal is to add diversity to my staff every year that will bring value to the staff. This diversity can be an experienced coach that has coached college or high school to a young dedicated coach right out of college. No matter the experience, this encourages all staff members to contribute their unique talents, skills, and expertise to the program's operations. This will push the existing staff members to be accountable by staying current in trends and strategies.
