When the anticipated senior year finally begins, a typical student at Laurel High School enjoys a brief honeymoon of peer dominance and the illusion that the finish line is in sight. Then, reality sets in. College and scholarship applications burden an already hefty load of work so that by December, much like poor little Max the dog in Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch, seniors feel they are dragging forty times their weight up a steep, snowy mountain. I saw an opportunity several years ago to take advantage of their misery by assigning a document I knew most would need to write anyway, the dreaded personal essay. It makes perfect sense: it fits the Common Core standards, and they need the help.
It was John Wooden, the famous basketball coach, who said: “Do not let what you can not do interfere with what you can do.” Whether it is in sports, academics, or in my personal life, I am committed to achieve my highest potential. Luther North College Prep has a “legacy of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and athletic and fine arts achievements”, and I want to be part of this. I am a good candidate for the Len-Rich Athletic Foundation Scholarship because am a hard worker, disciplined student and athlete, as well as a servant of the Lord. I started attending St. John’s Lutheran Elementary School in 5th grade, and at that time, I joined the basketball team.
To go to County Prep would mean that I can have the chance to reach for those stars and even search for what I truly want. To go to County Prep would extremely help me learn and grow and even change how I critically think and tackle obstacles. The County Prep High School mission statement truly and entirely expresses why I hope and strive to attend this academic palace. "We are a dynamic, diverse and compassionate learning community that encourages growth and embraces change through meaningful activities in a student centered environment. " This complete thought sums up why I want to learn and critically excel at this magnificent school.
As I traveled through each grade of the Croton-Harmon High School, my personal and academic goals helped to me to really flourish. These goals may have varied from year to year because a freshman is a little different from a senior, but they basically had all the same concept: I wanted to strive in school to be the best all-around student I could be, constantly stay focused and immerse myself in the Croton community. By setting my expectations and goals very high, I could flourish academically and really work to my full potential. By following these goals in school I pushed myself very hard and tried to take classes that would challenge me as well as help me to flourish as a student.
Throughout middle school and my first 2 years in high school, I’ve gotten mainly As in my classes with an occasional B here and there. So in my junior year of high school, when I heard that I can take more than 1 AP course, I immediately wanted to challenge myself. I registered for 4 AP courses along with orchestra, and spanish on top of my extracurriculars. “Are you trying to kill yourself?” is what all my friends asked when I told them about my plan.
In conclusion, my current courses are giving me a general information of the major that I would be going into and what I should expect to learn in my future courses. It also gives me an idea of possible jobs opportunities that I would have in the future. Topic 1: Enrolling at Central Catholic High School was a significant risk that has made me a more confident person. I came from a public K-8 where I knew every student since kindergarten. My friends were all going to Grant High School, but that was not the path I wanted to take. I knew that I wanted the academic challenge Central Catholic could give me as a college preparatory high school. By enrolling at Central Catholic, I risked isolation because I would enter high school without knowing anyone.
Kettle Moraine Scholarship Essay I am an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin River Falls majoring in Horticulture focusing in Landscape Design with a 15 credit Business Emphasis. I am applying for this scholarship for two reasons. First, I am applying for this scholarship due to my financial need to pay for my tuition.

Even though they may not achieve the results they would like, they keep pushing themselves and don’t give up. Not everything in life comes easily, so some sacrifices have to be made for the long run.
