Cell phone use while driving is responsible for 1.6 million crashes annually. The statistics reveal the facts; using cell phones while driving is highly dangerous. Being addicted to social media creates a strong urge for drivers to use their cell phone while driving. Because smartphones have easy access to notifications and the ability to customize alert sounds, individuals can easily draw their attention towards their phones. For example, a teenage girl heading back to college after being home for the weekend receives a “Snapchat” from her boyfriend.
