Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There has been a lot of dispute about this issue for about 40 years. In 1973 abortion became legal in a supreme court case Roe versus Wade. Many women that get pregnant is not what they want, should they have to have a baby because it is their right, or should they be able to do what they want with it because it is their body? Rape or Incest induced pregnancies is not something to take lightly, is it fair that something that they had no choice in is now apart of them the rest of their lives? Many states do not have laws protecting rape victims from custody battles, meaning that if the attacker does get the right to see their kid, the mother is obligated to speak and see her attacker. Nebraska’s law states that if you are convicted of first degree sexual assault then your parental rights are terminated but if it is 3rd degree than your parental rights are safe. 20 states require a conviction to block parental rights of the attacker, they will only grant it if they have clear, convincing evidence that the attacker assaulted the women during conception of the child. 10 out of the 50 states do not allow abortion. Texas for example took created a law in 2013 closing down so many that less than 20 clinics were available to over five million people of the reproductive age. Statistics show that “Over 200,000 women have created their own ways to get an abortion by inhaling herbs, crossing the border to get a medication called Misoprostol that primarily stops ulcers, but it also can also induce abortions with heavy bleeding and cramping. Some women even have their friends punch them in the stomach.”
