Hooded seals, Bearded vultures, and Gavials most of these species of animals are unheard of to the common ear, due to the fact they’re all on the brink of extinction. Now imagine a world where animals on the brink of extinction can be brought back and grown to their original numbers, scientist will be able to do exactly this using cloning, but before this can be done the treatment of animals used in the process must improve. Animal cloning has great potential but first several solutions must be applied in order to continue the process; among these solutions are cloning animals only out of necessity, limiting the amount of clones produced, and applying certain regulations regarding the treatment of animals. Although animal cloning is a revolutionary idea and has endless possibilities, the problem still stands of the treatment of the animals. The surrogates used for the embryos and the successful clones often suffer serious and painful diseases. More than ninety-five percent of cloning attempts result in failure (American Anti-Vivisection Society). Out of those deemed a success, and aren’t born with some form of birth defect, usually have one develop later in their life; With fifty percent …show more content…
An enforced universal protocol that all cloning facilities must follow will ensure that all animals will be treated with the proper care they deserve. Though some contend that implying a protocol that all labs must follow will significantly interfere or slow down the process of creating a clone. However implementing a protocol that all labs must abide to will do exactly the opposite. A universal protocol will ensure that all labs are using the most efficient and humane ways to clone the animals thus increasing the chances of creating a successful
