In 1993, after passing their conceal carry law, Florida’s homicide rate fell from 36% above the national average to 4% below the national average (Golden CO: Independence Institute Issue Paper). If all states passed concealed carry laws they would enable law-abiding citizens to make their community safer. With the passing of conceal carry laws in all states, it would help further the decline of crime, enable the government to do background checks on all people with a permit, enable law-abiding citizens to be able to protect themselves, and a large portion of the population supports the idea of being able to carry a weapon. Conceal carry laws have been proven to further the decline of crime in states. Conceal carry laws enable law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and other citizens by allowing them to carry weapons to defend themselves. It has been proven that homicide rates fall after the passing of a conceal carry law, as stated previously. Deaths from these shootings plummeted on average by 90%, injuries by 82%.”. The fact that people can step up when there is a maniac on the loose because of conceal carry laws, makes every public setting safer. There are not police everywhere, and it takes time for them to arrive at a scene, that time innocent people could be getting killed.
