As time progresses there are more and more technological advancements, so there are more things that can distract drivers when they are behind the wheel, such as the radio, a GPS, their cell phones, etc. Due to a high number of car accidents that result every year from cellular use, some states have passed a law that has made it illegal to use handheld cell phones while driving. This is a great law because when drivers are using their cell phones, they will get distracted and cause car accidents and even deaths, they will serve as a negative role model for their children, and they will use applications on their phone that can potentially lead to reckless driving. When drivers attempt to multitask by driving and focusing on their phone, they in fact are not multitasking but actually dividing their attention for each task; by not focusing all of their attention on the road, drivers will not notice that there may be cars merging onto the lane next to them, they will not notice that they are swerving left and right in their lane, and they won't realize that that they are speeding up and that the distance between them and the car in front of them is steadily decreasing, resulting in a car crash. It is important for drivers to not use their cell phones because they will prevent the death of a loved one in the vehicle, a stranger, or themselves. This new law is an excellent law because it will prevent drivers from getting distracted and ultimately decrease the unfortunate accidents and deaths that result from people driving and using their cell phones. Additionally, prohibiting people from driving and using their cell phones will prevent future generations from becoming irresponsible drivers. The biggest factor that impacts how new drivers will drive is how their parents do; teenagers spend their whole life observing their parents' behavior, including how
