Gun control is one of the most talked about topics in the media today. There are no easy answers. Guns are what cause most deaths in the United States. Over 300,000 people die every year because of guns. Gun control tries to reduce the number of deaths , but many people argue that they should be allowed to carry guns so that they can defend
themselves.
Guns are responsible for roughly 30,000 deaths a year in America; more than half of those deaths are suicides. In 2010, 606 people died in accidental shootings. Sixty two of them were children younger than age 15. Tom Mauser (citation 1) “says that Americans love guns because they are ignorant and immature. We're a pretty new nation and we don't like it when the government tells us what to do. People don't trust government to do what's right. If the United States were as mature as the countries of Europe, where strict gun control is normal, it would be easier for the government to control how people get weapons. The people themselves would understand that having guns around puts them in more danger." “America is not going to shoot our way out of the gun violence problem. Because we have weak controls most people can obtain guns easily. Having more people with guns just makes the problem worse.” (citation 2)

Some people think that if you have controls, it will help stop the mass shootings going on in our country. A research study found that in recent years there have been about 20 mass shootings per year in this country. Unfortunately, this means that a couple of hundred people died. However, it has been found out that there are already 32,000 firearm deaths every year, mostly by suicide. How will having more guns reduce
