"I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it" (Clint Eastwood). A nation without firearms for citizens to have. A nation where background checks are used on those who have carried a firearm and those who purchase one. A nation where the Second Amendment, written by some iconic people doesn't really mean anything in our day in age. This is the nation of those who support gun control and want our nation to be like. Does that sound like a nation someone would like to live in? Today, Gun control has been an ongoing discussion in America due to the recent tragedies in the United States. Headlines burst the papers about gun violence in our country everyday. "In the 2010's, about 91 Americans were killed every day by gun violence ("Gun control," 2000)." There is a certain approach that the Government can take to resolve this problem of gun violence. This paper will be explaining this approach throughout my paper, as well as, explaining the opposition of this topic. As stated in my earlier paragraphs about my position, the second amendment addresses that citizens have the right to bear arms (Gun control, 2016). This allows citizens to have freedom of carrying a gun and allowing these gun control laws will simply disregard this amendment in the Constitution. In addition, the Federal Government will intrude citizens by taking advantage of citizens by confiscating their guns (Gun control,2016). This is wasted money by those gun owners who purchased guns as well. Not to mention that the Government wants to invade your privacy by doing a full background check on those who have purchased a gun is implausible. In brief, these gun laws will violate an amendment of the document that this country has based their morals upon, the U.S.
