It would be impossible to unarm all of the citizens of America. Especially the criminals. Gun control is not the answer to stopping mass shootings and bans on guns can be placed but that doesn’t mean that people are going to follow those bans. Gun control will not stop a person from owning a gun, especially if that person is a criminal. “You can declare a place gun-free, as Virginia Tech had done, and guns will still be brought there” (Wilson 1). Virginia Tech was a gun-free place but a gun was still brought there and a mass shooting still occurred. This shows that criminals do not follow rules, and they will bring a gun where they want if they intend on using it to kill people. It has been shown time and time again that gun control has not led to lowered crime rates for extended periods of time. Instead, the opposite has been shown. Often times strict gun control laws can lead to higher violent crime rates than before gun control. It has been proven that gun control laws will not stop people from owning guns, but simply open more opportunity for criminals to purchase and sell them through the black market. The banning of guns in certain places such as schools and businesses will not stop them from being brought there. It is a known fact that a criminal is a person who does not follow the law, so more laws will not do anything to protect citizens from those who do not follow the law. If a person wants to kill another person, they will do it. If they can't get access to a gun, they will either find a way to get a gun, or use another weapon instead. Strict gun bans and laws will not stop mass shootings. And though mass shooting are a growing problem in America, it has been proven that gun control will not stop violence, but merely leave the law-abiding citizens defenseless to our country's
