For many years, marijuana has been categorized under substances that have been scrutinized such as cocaine, crystal meth, and heroin. Although there was a time in history where marijuana had been used freely and not seen as a destructive drug, time passed and the use of the substance became illegal by federal law. Many states have come to the decision to legalize cannabis, either recreationally or medically, but there are still many states that deem the substance illegal. Marijuana has been demonized for many years; this substance has been looked at as a disparaging drug that served no purpose other than recreational use. In the recent years, however, it has been proven that the idea of marijuana having no medical benefits is a false theology. Medical studies have proven that certain cannabinoids found in marijuana actually relieve certain symptoms within many medical conditions.
