United States Attorney General Marijuana Law Policy Change
We have come to the point that we need to decide on the national policy changes for marijuana. We have federal laws banning this schedule 1 drug, but federal laws are hard to enforce when states are legalizing. Some states have made it legal for medical use, and others have made it legal for recreational use. We need to find a way to enforce the law to keep the public safe, while listening to the majority of the citizens of the united states. We need to find a way to stay with the times to keep the public satisfied and compliant with laws, but we also need to enforce what is safe.

Twenty states have legalized marijuana for medical use, and 7 states have even legalized it for recreational use. We need to research the effects of marijuana to fully understand what the best policy for the country will be. First of all, it is hard to enforce laws federally when states have “legalized” it. I believe we should stop spending money on enforcing marijuana laws, and spend it on researching the effects marijuana has on the human body, and mind. We can not wait for a full scientific report however because the world of Marijuana is changing so fast. Let’s begin talking about a temporary federal policy, then we will focus on a long term policy for both potential findings from the scientific community. It is in my opinion that we can not wait for science to catch up, we must move forward with policies that will temporarily satisfy the public without too great of a risk. We will begin with legalizing medical marijuana for use in the home for serious ailments when other treatments do not work, we will need a board of doctors to come up with a list of acceptable uses. We will need to have doctors be certified to write prescriptions for marijuana and only certified doctors will be able to write a prescription after they have tried other courses of treatment first. This will also not be prescribed to anyone under the age of 18. This should work as a temporary
