Up In Smoke For the longest time its been illegal and considered dangerous. There are many stereotypes that come along with marijuana and in todays world it is becoming more and more popular. So popular in fact that it is now legal in The states of Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and the Washington D.C. area. With more and more states legalizing this plant, it leads to the question is marijuana harmful, and should it be legalized? There are many reasons why people would choose to support the legalization of marijuana, profit is one of them. Marijuana could create massive revenue in the united states, and can be proven when looking upon states like Colorado, a state that has legalized marijuana. Experts say that marijuana has the possibility to “raise between $5 and $22 million annually” just in Colorado alone. Cancer patients could easily obtain a medicine to reduce the pain, and marijuana is “ patently safer than many commonly prescribed drugs”. Not only is it a safe medicine, it statistically is a safe way to relieve stress when compared to cigarettes, and alcohol, which both are not only leading killers each year in the United States, but they’re both also legal.
