The issue of drugs has been a public debate for a long time. Illegal misuse of drugs remains one of the most talked of problems in the United States and in Canada. The government has sought ways to implement the legalization of marijuana through the policy of controlling supply. Although, the policy has shifted to trying to provide marijuana for health problems, there are still some risks that pertain to this move. One of the risks relating to the government legalizing marijuana is mental illness. The issue of mental illness is now coming on a rise and it has been shown that the continuous intake of marijuana leads to this problem. This paper provides more insight on the link between marijuana and mental illness, but it centers more on the negative effects of legalizing marijuana.
