Marijuana has always been a controversial topic in today’s society, where many people are debating on whether medicinal marijuana should be legalized. Have you ever been at a social gathering where everyone’s laughing, drinking and having a good time, and suddenly you’re asked a question “Hey do you want a hit?” We currently live in a world where people are beginning to smoke marijuana, where society encourages party goers to undergo the uses of substances whether legal or illegal. Some may say that legalizing marijuana may be beneficial for our country; however our society sometimes forgets why the substance is illegal in the first place. Although some may disagree on whether legalizing marijuana violates our natural rights; we should encourage people to disapprove the legalization of marijuana because it creates a threat to public health. …show more content…

According to Mark J. Perry, a professor and editor of an economics blog named Carpe Diem states in his article, “Alcohol vs. weed debate asks the wrong question” that smoking weed maybe less or more harmful than consuming other substances such as alcohol. He states how in some cases other drugs are supposedly safe, because people who consume drugs have the equivalent consequences when for example driving drunk [False Analogy]. I believe that the legalization of certain drugs of drugs is based on how dangerous the drug may be. Can drinking alcohol be beneficial for a person [Loaded Question]? Does one outweigh the other when knowing the facts of how dangerous both can be?
