Marijuana is a drug, and like any other drug marijuana has side effects some of them a short term effects and some of them long term effects. Marijuana is prescribed for patients who are suffering from serious illness. But, it is also the most common used drug among teenagers, and teenagers today do not use marijuana for medical purposes, teenagers usually use it to get high. Even though there are many alternative medications without any serious side effects, marijuana is still prescribed for medical uses in more than 20 states. If the United States were to legalize marijuana for medical purposes, it will encourage and legitimize recreational use, and the number of marijuana users would increase as well.

They believe if medical marijuana were legalized in the United States, governments would capable to ensure that patients are receiving safe good-quality marijuana and without having the risk of the potential dangers of finding it on the street. Additionally, they claim that they could properly control doses, track its use on a large scale, and the possibility of decreasing marijuana uses among teenagers. They also believe that the use of marijuana does not escalate over time, and it is not addictive.
It is true that the vast majority of marijuana users are not addicted to marijuana, but it could be extremely addictive for some people. Just because the signs of cannabis withdrawal are comparatively mild, doesn’t mean it isn’t addictive. “Research suggests that 30% of users may develop problem use that can lead to dependence. When the person can't stop even though it interferes with his or her daily life, dependence on drugs could become an
