Every year in low to middle income countries, 730,000 adolescent girls between the ages of 15 through 19 die because they got pregnant at a young age and experienced complications. Most of the countries they come from have little to no access to sexual education and health services. 3 million of these girls will have unsafe abortions because no safe option is available or legal. Pregnancy is the second leading cause of death worldwide for adolescent girls. Planned Parenthood, along with a handful of organizations, is trying to reach out to the people of developing countries. Planned Parenthood is one of the only options for them, and here in the United States, the situation isn’t exactly perfect either.
