In today’s political climate, there is great division. The overarching ideal of a bipartisan system is to have differing opinions displayed so we can have a more accurate representation of the population. However, the diverse opinions of the two political parties often stint American progression. Agreement is largely involved in the passing of legislation in this country. Since there is so much division in politics, it is hard to get any substantial law or mass regulation passed. That is why it would be extremely unlikely that a law or amendment concerning gun control would be put into place to protect public places, like schools. As a country, we must turn to physical and non-physical precautions in-school safety measures to help prevent future mass shootings in educational facilities. …show more content…

There are several ways for schools to spot these kind of mental health problems through behavioral differences. Counselors can give mental health screenings to kids showing early signs of the mental illness. Trained professionals will be able to find suffering kids and offer them the help they need. “Mental health professionals are society’s first line of defense against troubled students,” (Englander). Social and communication skills between students could help sort out mental illness among peers. Schools can offer classes in communication and socialization for kids to strengthen those skills. “Students with more fluent social skills connect better with others and may be able to recognize troubles peers who need help,” (Englander). Students could be able to help spot troubled kids and tell their teacher so the child can get the help they need. Hiring more counselors and administering classes on social and communication skills are in-school measures that could help prevent school shootings in the long
