Under the rule of President Bashar Assad, the government launched a brutal crackdown against protesters last March. Video footage of violence spreads through the media as accounts and footage of torture, displaced families, and horrifying deaths take place in Syria. Syria’s future remains uncertain as the chaos continues and Syrians become refugees. The conflicts in the Middle East has people fleeing from countries with high death toll. A few percentage of Syrians have gone through the US vetting process in the past and created businesses and found jobs for themselves. The US should accept Syrian Refugees, because it is our moral obligation to help the oppressed, and the refugees we accept help increase the growth of our own economy.

Refugees are not failing drug test when seeking employment unlike a majority of Americans. The refugees are becoming employed yet taking jobs from US born and raised citizens. Citizen are left with nothing which hurts our economy, because the lack of low-end jobs. Refugees are disrupting our economy making employers have had to look elsewhere work. However, Syrian Refugees actually contribute to the United States economic growth by starting a variety of small business types. Syrian-owned businesses could provide job opportunities for unemployed Americans and expand access to valuable networks, as well as provide information about new job openings. Syrians have an extremely high rate of business ownership. Their businesses particularly range from medical office, food services, or automobile dealerships. The median annual wage for “Syrian immigrants in the United States is $52,000. That is well above the $36,000 median wage for immigrants overall and higher even than the $45,000 median wage for U.S.-born workers” (Kallick). Syrians contribute to the growth of the US economy while assimilating into America financial as well with wages well above the average. These businesses provide employment and help spur growth in the local
