Texting and driving is not worth someones life. A lot of people are guilty of texting and driving, while others are victims of being in a text related accident. Many don't see this to be important, until it has happened to them. In order to solve this hazard that has taken over the world. Acting now should be a main priority. Texting and driving is a hazard to the safety, a distraction, and there is work out there being done to help improve the safety. Distracted driving is the leading cause of car fatalities. “Distracted driving is a factor in 90% of collision, says Pennings, and most of those incidents involve cell phones” (“New Approaches”16). Many students have confessed to texting and driving. While other students have lead to texting and driving to be safer than drinking or taking drugs, while driving (“New Approaches”16). Many say that texting takes cognitive engagement and visual attention (Gardner 3).“Five seconds is the minimal amount of time your attention is taken away from the road when you’re texting and driving. If you travel at 55 mph that equals driving the length of a football field without look at the road” (Gardner). Ever since growing up, kids and adults have always known to put your seatbelt on, its become a habit just like texting a driving. Taking the time to put your phone aside while you are driving, could save many of lives
