Impaired driving has become an ever present problem in today’s society with the growing use of cellphones. Though the disturbances do not stop there, impairments also include drunk driving, or even using the advanced technology installed in cars while driving. Driving impaired is one of the most dangerous situations a person can put himself in. Due to the fact that driving in itself is a dangerous event requiring focused attention, adding distractions to the equation causes more fatalities. As cellphones are becoming more popular, and teenagers are continuing to sit behind the wheel, the danger of texting and driving is a potentially fatal mistake. The teenagers, who are known for this type of behavior are the most susceptible to the consequences. Everyone has honked at the person in front of them because they are sitting at a green light, and upon passing them you see them either texting or talking on their phone. You may even be that person, who realizes the lights green only because the cars in the next lane over have taken off. Around 16 percent of the drivers under 20 years old that were involved in a fatal crash were suspected of being distracted while driving.
